Rebecca Beck
Studio 48 Performing Arts Center was founded by Brunswick native and former Miss Maine America, Rebecca Beck. She designed the studio/center to develop the "finest performer" of all ages, in 1996. Through Her experience, education, and training, the Studio/Center offers a wealth of knowledge in performing arts "discipline" as well as providing students the opportunity to perform locally in the community and beyond.

Education

Rebecca attended Boston University, University of Maine and University of Southern Maine, New England Conservatory of Music, and private study at Juilliard School of Music with Eleanor Steber, with a major in vocal performance, and a minor in violin. she studied with : Phyllis Curtin, Eileen Farrell Eleanor Steber, Mark Pearson, Rhonda Martin, Ludlow Hallman, Lorna Cook De Varon, and Ellen chickering. In her youth she was selected as the first vocalist from Maine to attend Tanglewood the summer home of the Boston Symphony.

Stage Work

Re​becca has performed with the Boston Symphony as soprano soloist in Beethoven's Mass in C, and highly achieved opera roles performed are: Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutti, Baby Doe in the Ballad of Baby Doe, Musetta and Mimi in Puccini's Opera, La Boheme; Operetta Roles: Josephine in G&S HMS Pinafore; Aline in the Sorcerer; and recently at Monmouth Theater as Lady Sangazure in the Sorcerer.
Her most memorable musical theater roles: Nellie Furbish in South Pacific; Acid Queen in the rock opera, TOMMY; Fruma Sarah in fiddler on the Roof, and most recent; Grey Gardens as Edith Bouvier Beal at Monmouth Theaterm and Mrs. Bixby in MSMT production of "Seven Brides".

Rebecca settled back in Brunswick to raise her two boys who are now young men as a single mother and developed Studio 48 Performing Arts Center. She has been teaching close to three decades and some of her students travel between one and two hours to study with her. Rebecca specializes in teaching children with autism, and other disabilities as well, such as children with high-risk behavior. Some of her students have furthered their education in vocal and violin performance, and music education, as well as vocal journey's to American Idol, The Voice, Miss Maine and Maine's Outstanding Teen. Several students have professional careers in television, day-time soap opera's, news channel and movies on Lifetime channel.
